HIGH POINT, N.C., September 19, 2017 – The International Textile Alliance (ITA), producers of Showtime, unanimously passed a resolution supporting the High Point Stadium Project.
ITA Showtime is the largest home textiles show in the United States and is held in downtown High Point each June and December. It attracts approximately 3,600 to our area and is the third largest revenue generating event in the city, after Furniture Market and the Furniture City Youth Soccer tournament.
Randy Hemann, Assistant City Manager for High Point, presented the Stadium Plan to the full ITA Showtime board of directors at our recent monthly meeting. He outlined the plans for the stadium project and related city development plans, and at the conclusion, the Board of Directors were in unanimous support.
“The creation of a desirable place to live attracts a better work force, and to attract entrepreneurs, hotels, restaurants……all adding up to a more desirable destination for tradeshows like ours.”
Catherine Morsell, High Point Resident and Director of ITA Showtime
“There is a severe lack of individuals under the age of 40 willing to live in High Point. This is largely due in fact to students not finding High Point a desirable city to live in because of the lack of amenities.” Todd Nifong, High Point Resident, Past President of ITA and Current Chair of ITA Education Foundation
Our show is held downtown and this new stadium plan shows how High Point, and particularly the downtown area, can become a more vibrant, growing, and thriving place. We hope that residents of High Point will support the growth of the city through these projects for and that the Guilford County Commissioners will approve this exciting project for the long-term future of High Point.
